Background
The
early years

|
Back in the 50's
Jamie was born in Dundalk, Southern Ireland,
the son of a well
respected family and one of twelve
children. Brought up to respect the church and good family values,
Jamie started singing at an early age in the local church choir. |
The
career years |
Having decided on a career in the hotel and catering business,
Jamie moved to England, Coventry, in 1971 and progressed to
management level in his chosen field. Being a full-bloodied Irishman
of course a position in bar and restaurant management proved a
natural development and Jamie took up that position at the
prestigious Post House Hotel in Haydock in 1981. Thus began his love
affair with the Northern folk.

The
singing years |
It was in the early 80's that Jamie was
encouraged by his many friends to take the singing talent that he had
and perform to a live audience in a local workingmen's club. Local
well known musician, Mike Callaghan provided the support and
direction (as well as the musical competence) to enable Jamie to
perform on stage. Moss Bank Labour Club was the first venue and with
the support of the resident musicians, Jamie began a career on
clubland that has seen him become an established and respected artist
throughout the North of England. |
